I prefer Eve when it isn't being interesting personally. Eve is where I come to chill out in my little corner with my corp and generally try to ignore the rest of Eve until it suits me. Nul-Sec is good for this.

Freighters are fine. Ships with predefined roles are fine. If Eve is a sandbox then ships are just digging instruments. The more options we have the more shapes we can build. If ships having defined roles are dumbing down the game then I guess...
